How to get IEC (Import Export Code) in Surat

Dear Friends,

Below is the information to get the IEC in Surat in one shot.

1. Fill up Application as per prescribed format ANF2A with 2 photographs.
   Part A : For download ANF2A please follow the step
   • Open – http://www.dgft.gov.in/
   • Click on “Downloads”
   • Click on “Appendices & Aayaat Niryaat Form”. It will automatically download the Handbook on your system in PDF format. Please goto page – 364 (347) for the form ANF 2A.
   • Make sure to complete all the details (Part A, B, C & D)

   Part B : Bank certificate

   • Get bank certificate from your banker on bank’s letter head.
   • Paste the same photograph as pasted on Part A
   • Get bank manager’s signature through your photograph otherwise it would be rejected.
   • Get proper stamp on that certificate.
2. Central Bank Challan of Rs. 250 in duplicates. (Original + duplicate)
   • The DGFT Surat is not accepting DD. Instead, you need to fill up a “Challan” – Form 21A in five copies. For the format, please go to page – 206 (102) of the Handbook.
   • Fill up five copies of Form 21A properly and visit “Central Bank, Lalgate”. Go to ground floor.
   • Get stamp (self service) as it’s government bank. Some one from clerical staff will guide you. It’s 4-5th  table from main entrance of ground floor.
   • Pay Rs. 250 to Cashier. He will take 3 copies and 2 copies will be given to you which you need to file along with other documents to DGFT Surat Office.
3. Maintain other documents like PAN card, certificate of incorporation, partnership deed, memorandum etc applied to you. Make sure all the copies of such document should be SELF CERTIFIED.
4. In case of Export of Service Provider – like software company, CA firm, KPOs etc. describe your service in separate sheet and mention in Part A – field 4 (Type of exporter).
5. Additional Documents
   • Your extra photograph
   • Self address envelope (8X3) affixing postage stamp of Rs. 25
   • Bank address envelope(8×3) affixing postage stamp of Rs. 25
6. Once all above mentioned documents ready, file them in file cover.
   Visit DGFT Office Surat as address below.
   6th Floor,  Resham Bhavan, Lal Darwaja – Station Road, Surat.
7. The clerk will give you a receipt upon examining the entire file and within 10 days you will get your IEC in your premise.

In my case I wasted 6 days to get proper information as describe above.
